Il protocollo VARAN compatto richiede solo pochi comandi. Lo scambio di dati con clients è limitato all’accesso in lettura e scrittura, il che rende il software snello e l’implementazione semplice. L’integrazione di VARAN in un dispositivo di controllo o periferico, nonché in piccoli sensori/attuatori, può essere implementata sotto forma di codice VHDL o di singoli componenti hardware.
